1-  Spa Esthetician

This is one of the most direct career paths that students from our esthetics program aim towards after graduation. Spas are always in need of skilled estheticians to offer a variety of services to their clients, with a particular focus on wellness.

It’s easy to forget too that working as a spa esthetician goes beyond simple skincare treatments—it’s about providing clients with a rejuvenating experience that enhances a client’s overall well-being.

From facials and body treatments to personalized skincare consultations, to manicures and pedicures, spa estheticians play a pivotal role in helping clients achieve and maintain healthy, glowing while also looking their very best.

Best of all, with high job satisfaction and excellent job security, a career in spa esthetics offers stability and opportunities for professional growth within the thriving spa industry.

2 – Makeup Artist

The other fairly direct route is going the way of the makeup artist. Professionals in these careers focus their creatives energies on the cosmetic side of the industry,

As a makeup artist, you’ll have the power to transform appearances and help boost the confidence of your clients. Whether it’s creating stunning bridal looks, crafting characters for film and stage, or helping people prepare for other big events, this career path allows you to showcase your artistic talent.

Makeup artists also get to enjoy the thrill of some high-demand work environments and the potential for high-paying gigs. If you have a passion for color, texture, and making people feel beautiful, this could be the perfect fit for you after you graduate!

3 – Spa Manager

Estheticians primarily work with clients, applying their craft either for wellness or cosmetics. However, there’s also a business component to the profession that sometimes goes unnoticed!

If you’re an esthetician looking to advance in your career beyond client work,or who have a particular business acumen, becoming a spa manager is a natural progression forward for your career.

Spa managers oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure exceptional client experiences. This role not only rewards leadership skills but also offers stability and the potential for career advancement within the spa industry.

Ultimately, if you’re the kind of person who will thrive in a managerial role while also working to create a positive workplace environment, becoming a spa manager could be your next career goal or milestone to aim for.

4 – Salesperson or Product Representative

It’s not completely uncommon for estheticians to transition into different roles over the course of their careers. One of the popular career paths is to transition into a sales role within the cosmetic industry. Having first-hand knowledge of the products allows estheticians to leverage their skincare experience into helping clients purchase the right beauty products for them.

Whether working in retail settings or as a brand representative, salespeople are responsible for helping educate customers, recommending products, and contributing their clients’ beauty routines.

Due to its frequent client-facing nature, this career path is really recommended for people with strong communication skills, product knowledge, and a passion for helping others discover the best skincare solutions for their needs.

5 – Brand Ambassador or Influencer

One of the more popular routes for estheticians these days, particularly ones who are familiar with social media and marketing is that of a brand ambassador or influencer.

As a brand ambassador, you become the face and voice of a beauty brand. This dynamic role primarily involves promoting products, giving demonstrations, and oftentimes also appearing at industry events. If you have a self-starter attitude, enjoy staying on top of the latest industry trends, and are eager to build and expand your network of relationships, this could be the route for you!

Careers exist both within the industry as a traditional ambassador or representative, but increasingly cosmetic companies are seeking people who have already built-up their own following on social media or who found success as bloggers. It might not be the most direct path to take after graduation, but even as a side hobby where you create a few videos a month, it has the potential to lead to a fulfilling passion project.
